Terms and Conditions

The Faces of Climate Change Photography Competition (“the Competition”), is owned by Faces of Climate Change CIC and is subject to the following terms and conditions. These terms and conditions must be accepted by each Entrant, prior to the submission of any photograph(s) or image(s). By accepting this terms and conditions, you (“the Entrant”) agree to be bound by them. This competition is a collaboration with Brent Council and managed by GivingBack Films.

Entry to the Competition

  • Each Entrant may enter up to 10 submissions.

  • The image(s), photograph(s) or narrative(s) must not have been previously submitted to another photography Competition, website or publication whether printed or online.

  • The image(s), photograph(s) or narrative(s) submitted to the Competition must not distort reality and must not have any items or objects, or parts of objects added or removed from the main image(s) or photograph(s).

Photographs must be original

  • Photographs cannot have been manipulated using any photo editor or AI technology.

Image Rights and Use

  • Entrants are required to obtain prior consent for all photographs, images or narrative submitted that contain a third party’s individual persona, including their name, image, likeness, signature, narrative or any other indicia.

  • By submitting the photograph(s), image(s) and narrative(s) the Entrant confirms that each individual featured has given their consent for their individual persona, name, image, likeness, signature, narrative or any other indicia to be used in this Competition by Faces of Climate Change.

  • Where an individual who is under 18 years’ old is featured in the Entrant’s submitted photograph(s) or image(s), the Entrant confirms that consent has been given by the individual’s’ parent(s) or guardian(s) for its use in the Competition.

  • The copyright in all images or photographs submitted, must be owned exclusively and solely by the Entrant. By submitting your image(s) or photograph(s) to the Competition, you confirm that it is your own original work and that you own all intellectual property rights associated with it.

  • Faces of Climate Change reserve the right to disqualify any Entrants from the Competition if it believes that the submitted photographs or images by an Entrant: are in breach of any of these terms and conditions; has infringed the Intellectual Property (including copyright, trade marks, design rights, patent, trade secrets) of a third party.

  • The ownership of copyright in respect of each image or photograph submitted to the Competition will remain with the copyright owner (Entrant).

  • In consideration for the chance to win an Award for an entry you submit to the Competition, you hereby grant to us the right to reproduce, publicise and exhibit that images in any medium (including but not limited to physical copies, electronic copies and on social media) to enable it to be judged for an Award by the Judges.

  • By submitting an entry to the Competition, you confirm that Faces of Climate Change and its Official partners and Sponsor(s) may use your name, age, profession and geographical location for the purpose identifying you as the Entrant or winner, in any publication or media.

  • By submitting an entry to the Competition, you grant permission to Faces of Climate Change and its partners to send the Entrant’s submitted images or photographs (image files and narrative) to the Competition’s Judges to facilitate the judging process.

  • With regards to any entry that is shortlisted or wins and Award, you hereby grant the Competition and Faces of Climate Change and its partners, without need for further payment the right to:

    • Reproduce and exhibit the image in any of the Exhibitions held by, or on behalf of, Faces of Climate Change CIC in print or digital format;

    • Use the image(s), photograph(s) and narrative(s) in any medium to publicise and promote any of the Competitions or Exhibitions, without further payment;

    • Use all submitted images, photographs or narrative, in accordance with the non-exclusive, royalty free, worldwide Licence, in instances that directly or indirectly involve the Competition. This includes, but is not limited to displaying of the photographs or images at public events, usage by Faces of Climate Change and its partners on its website, for publicity, in email transmission, in print media, for additional printed mediums, including published work, and social media.

    • Sub-license the Official Sponsor to use, reproduce, display, publish the image(s), photograph(s) and narrative(s) for a period of up to 24 months from the winner announcements for permitted purposes. Permitted purposes include use by Official Sponsor in their public reports, website, social media, exhibitions, and promotion material for the Competition.

    • Any use for permitted purposes by the Official Sponsor will be accompanied with credits to the Entrant as [Credits: Photographer Name / Faces of Climate Change 2023] and the Official Sponsor will not seek to generate direct revenue from the use of these entries.

Liability

  • The Entrant grants Faces of Climate Change its partners and its Lead Sponsor permission to use any personal information submitted in accordance with data protection laws in England.

  • Faces of Climate Change and its partners accept no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities or injury incurred as a result of submitting images or photographs to the Competition. Faces of Climate Change also accepts no responsibility for submitted photographs or images that are lost, damaged or delayed whether due to transmission errors or otherwise.

  • In cases of inadvertent unaccredited disclosure to the public of any material, Faces of Climate Change its partners and its Official Sponsor(s) take no responsibility. Faces of Climate Change and its partners will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the Licence is not breached by accidental disclosure of images or photographs to the public.

  • Faces of Climate Change reserve the right at any time and from time to time to modify, or discontinue the Competition. Faces of Climate Change will endeavour to notify all Entrants of such changes.

Withdrawal from the Competition

  • Should the Entrant wish to withdraw their consent to licence their images, photographs or narrative, the Entrant must provide 28 days written notice to Faces of Climate Change. Future use of the images, photographs or narrative will be restricted by Faces of Climate Change or any permitted parties once the 28 days written notice period has lapsed.

Governing Law and jurisdiction

  • These terms and conditions, the Competition and any dispute arising out of them, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English Law.

  • The Courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction for any dispute arising from these terms and conditions.

Prizes and awards

  • GivingBack Films is the partner responsible for organising the judging for the entries in this competition.

  • Brent Council is the partner responsible for awarding the winning entries and holds the responsibility over its distribution at its own discretion.

Other

  • By entering the competition the entrant is automatically consenting to being filmed and taking part in filming that can be utilised by all parties organising the event in promotional, marketing, educational and informative material with no financial compensation for such.

  • Some of the winners in this competition may feature in a short documentary production by GivingBack Films requiring availability for filming regarding the story of the photograph and the entrant with no financial compensation for this participation.
